Start with a B-day card.
Inside the card is a note that says (for example): "Go to the kitchen, look under the toaster."
Under the toaster is another note: "Go to the coat
closet. Look at the inside jacket pocket
of your black winter coat."
In the pocket is another note: "Go to the front porch. Look under the mat."
At each note location, you could also place a candy or a
small toy from the Dollar Store or the Target dollar bin. The
gift treasure hunt can take the birthday person all over the
house back and forth and outside (weather permitting) and back inside. There can be a couple of stops or many, your choice.
Eventually, the real present is revealed.
What's great about the treasure hunt is that it's free and
most important, it shows you care enough about this person to focus your time and your creativity
on them.
