Here's a great idea for a birthday party. For anybody who loves horses, give them an extra special birthday by taking the party horseback riding!
Find a local riding stable that rents horses, saddles and a guide. There are probably several in your area. Get prices for however many riders for however long you want to ride -- at least two hours. Reserve a date and time. Send invitations and suggest that everybody wear western garb.
When I threw a horseback riding party, after we got back to the stable from riding, we had the party in the barn. The stable personnel set up a table and we brought some simple decorations (balloons, table dressing, banners), cake, refreshments and presents.
Everyone had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, while riding my horse I somehow got a bad case of poison oak.
